Academic Support
TORCH staff work with students to improve their education outcomes by providing the following services:
- Grade checks and goal setting
- Tutoring and homework help
- Push-in support and after-school homework help as needed
- Supported PSEO options for first-generation college students
Social-Emotional Support
TORCH fosters a positive community that affirms students’ diverse identities and validates their need for belonging. We provide a safe and inclusive environment for students to connect with peers and caring adults.
College and Career Exploration
TORCH staff organize additional activities for our students to explore postsecondary options. At the high school level, we provide the following:
- College visits and information sessions
- College application and financial aid assistance
- Job application assistance, interview preparation, and job shadow opportunities
- Scholarships for driver’s education and other supportive services
Summer Services
- Academic support for summer credit recovery at Northfield Area Learning Center
- Help with registering for summer camps, transportation to/from summer camps and scholarship assistance
- Summer bridge sessions – individual meetings to finalize college plans and financial aid needs
- Driver’s permit testing and scholarships for driver’s training for students whose families qualify for Free/Reduced Price School Lunches
